Not always. Small stones often pass with medication and hydration. Larger or painful stones are usually treated with minimally invasive laser procedures (RIRS, URSL or PCNL) that involve no external cuts and often a same-day or next-day discharge. Dr. Munna advises after reviewing your scan.
The procedure is done under anaesthesia, so you feel nothing during it. Most patients describe mild discomfort or a burning sensation for a day or two afterwards, managed with simple painkillers.
